Using Instagram for Business

Instagram is a fantastic platform for business. With over 500 million monthly active users and the highest per follower engagement rate of any of the major social networks, the photo sharing app is another great resource for getting your brand discovered. 

The Instagram community is built on visual storytelling and the app gives businesses the chance to showcase their products and services in a creative and engaging way.

In order to have success on Instagram, you need to lay a good foundation and build up a reputable following. To do so, here are some basics steps you can take:

To easily represent your brand, use your company name as your username and your logo for your profile image. Ensure you include your website URL on your profile as this will be the only clickable link present and clearly describe what your business does in the bio.

A great place to start is by reaching out to your existing fans – if you’re already on Facebook and Twitter, tell those communities about the new platform you’ve embraced and direct them to follow you. This is essential for success on Instagram. Think about the types of images you want to post, how often you want to post and research some popular hashtags to use with your photos. Also, have a look if any of your competitors are using the network and see what they’re doing – can you do better?

At the minute, there’s no way to measure analytics on Instagram the same way you can on Facebook/Twitter. However, this is something the app is looking to roll out to all countries in the near future.
