A Special Tour De Yorkshire

On Thursday 5th May 2016, a group of keen cyclists took to the saddle to raise money for Brainwave, a charity striving to help children with a range of disabilities.

PTE was proud to be one of the sponsors of the ProAktive event which followed the recent official Tour De Yorkshire cycle route from Otley to Doncaster – covering a staggering 85miles.

The event was aiming to raise £10,500 to support three local children. £3,500 was needed for one of those children – two-year-old Amelia from Tickhill who has been diagnosed with Koolen de Vries Syndrome which effects one in 16,000 people.

The support she will receive from Brainwave will focus on her mobility and communication skills including a year’s therapy at one of the three Brainwave centres in the UK.

Mark, PTE Manager said: “We are always on the lookout for ways to be able to support the local community. When we heard about Amelia and her story to date we signed up as a sponsor straight away.

“So far the current fundraising figure for Amelia is £4,224 which is amazing!”

Donations can still be made to the fundraising efforts via the ProAktive Justgiving page: www.justgiving.com/ProAktiveTDY16
