Nominate Barnsley residents for random acts of kindness!

A local shopping centre is launching a community based campaign with a difference this February, as it vows to give something back to Barnsley residents over the coming 11 months.

The Alhambra Shopping Centre is launching its Random Acts of Kindness campaign which will see the outlet giving away gifts and vouchers, making peoples wishes come true as well as supporting local causes – to make a real difference to the lives of those living in Barnsley.

The management team has already identified a number of planned special activities over the course of the year, but have a number of monthly slots available, and are asking the community to send in nominations for people who really deserve a random act of kindness.

Alhambra’s marketing manager, Steph Higham said: “This is the first time the shopping centre has ever looked at a yearlong campaign of this nature and we are all really excited about it. As a company we choose a local charity to support every year, this year is no different, but we wanted to do something a little extra in 2016 for our shoppers.
“We would like Barnsley residents to contact us via the website to tell us about an individual, group or club that would really appreciate a random act of kindness and the reasons behind the nominations.”

The Alhambra Shopping Centre has chosen Barnsley Hospice as its charity for the year after successfully raising more than £16,000 over the past two years for Barnsley Hospitals, Tiny Hearts appeal.

The centre will also continue to offer space in the centre free of charge once a month for charities to take advantage of. The centre has helped Royal British Legion, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Safe@Last and Royston Animal Welfare to name a few with their fundraising drives in the centre which, over the past 2 years has raised more than £35,000.
