Doncaster businesses ‘Get Wiggy With it’ for Teenage Cancer Trust
A cancer charity is thanking businesses across Doncaster after they donned wigs to raise awareness and funds recently.
Teams from a range of companies based in the town took part, donning glittery bobs, to help fundraise and raise awareness of Teenage Cancer Trust and the work it does for young people aged between 13-24 with cancer.
Get Wiggy With It is one of Teenage Cancer Trust’s biggest fundraising opportunities every year, and with its first outing in Doncaster raised almost £500 for the charity as well as raising awareness of the signs of cancer in young people in the borough.
Some of the companies that got involved included international sports brand XBlades, Custom Windows and Doors, Talk to Media, FourFriends Pet Foods, Fitness Flex Doncaster, IT specialists ACS, solicitors Atherton Godfrey, Austerfield Study Centre, Close Brothers Motor Finance and Trax FM.
Stacey Morgan, PR and Social Media manager at Talk to Media Ltd said: “We were delighted to be able to team up with the Teenage Cancer Trust, and all the other organisations in the town to help raise funds and awareness, for a charity that does such a great job and doesn’t get the recognition it deserves.”
Catherine Foster, regional fundraiser – Yorkshire and Humberside for Teenage Cancer Trust said: “So many businesses got behind Doncaster’s first Get Wiggy With It Wednesday and helped raise a fantastic sum. The money will help fund specialist nursing care for local young people with cancer, as well as emotional and therapeutic support for their families and siblings. Some companies are already looking forward to next year’s event which we hope will be even bigger and better!”
