Direct Kitchens sets up Sheffield bout!
A Sheffield Kitchen company has firmly illustrated its ongoing partnership with the local sports community by supplying equipment that will benefit the next generation of boxers.
Direct Kitchens of Ecclesfield has supplied the Hillsborough based Sheffield Boxing Centre with a new boxing ring canvas and corner pads – so members can train using the best facilities possible.
The boxing centre, owned by sports legend Glyn Rhodes MBE welcomes more than 200 amateur and professional boxers through its doors every week including two up and coming title contenders Jez ‘Smokin’ Wilson (Middleweight) and Sam ‘Speedy’ Sheedy (Light Middleweight) who both fight at Magna on 21st November.
Glyn Rhodes MBE said: “We have been based in Hillsborough for the past 20 years. This wouldn’t have been the case if not for the likes of Carl from Direct Kitchens and other avid supporters of the gym.
“I have known Carl for seven years, when he started training here and since then he has been a great advocate for us. The new equipment means the world to all our members and they all get excited about being able to train on such a stylish canvas – it really does bring the best out of them.”
The Sheffield Boxing Centre welcomes members of all ages from 5 to 70+ both men and women, and offers a whole host of circuit fitness classes alongside its open boxing and professional training sessions.
H.R.H Prince Charles and ex-professional footballer Vinnie Jones as well as boxing legend Jake LaMotta have all visited over the years, to see just what Glyn offers to the sport of boxing and the lives of Sheffield youngsters.
Carl Vigrass of Direct Kitchens said: “Glyn is a true inspiration to 100’s of Sheffield kids, some that haven’t necessarily had the best start in life. They come to the gym with nothing and they leave with aspirations and dreams -really wanting to be someone and to achieve exciting things.
“If this new equipment helps him and his team continue to inspire the city’s future talent for many more years to come, it has been worth every penny!”
